Interview prep in the last 24 hours before the call

A day-before ritual that reduces interview anxiety and makes you noticeably sharper without cramming all night.

The day before

  1. Re-read the job posting in full. Not skim — read. Underline the verbs.
  2. Prepare three short stories (2 minutes each) you can tell: one about scope, one about a setback, one about a decision you had to make with incomplete info.
  3. Prepare three questions for them. The weakest question is "tell me about the culture". The strongest is something specific to the team's actual work, which means you had to research.
  4. Check the logistics — the call link, the dial-in, the address, the name of the interviewer.
  5. Stop at 7pm. Your brain needs sleep more than it needs one more round of practice.

The morning of

  1. Eat. Hydrate. Walk outside for 10 minutes if you can.
  2. Do one mock answer out loud to warm up your voice — not your best one, just a mid-tier one.
  3. Dress slightly more formally than you think you need to for the level of the role.
  4. Join the call 2 minutes early, not 10. Ten minutes early is stressful for both sides.

The interview tracker has a built-in prep checklist you can use as a template.
